HUNTER, NY – On April 22nd, 2023, the Hunter Foundation celebrated the opening of the Hunter Branch Rail Trail and Luke’s Bridge dedication on Earth Day. The new trailhead and Bridge are located on Clove Road, off SR 214 in Hunter.. The event was attended by a large number of people who came out to enjoy the beautiful surroundings and take part in the opening of this exciting new amenity for our Town.

Chairwoman Emeritus of the Hunter Foundation, Elena Patterson, was present at the event on behalf of her family and spoke beautifully. The dedication of Luke’s Bridge is a special tribute to Luke Patterson, whose memory will now be honored with this amazing and permanent Bridge.

The Hunter Branch Rail Trail is a fantastic addition to the Town of Hunter, providing a safe and accessible space for hiking, biking, and enjoying the natural beauty of the area. The Trail and the Bridge are amazing examples of the magic that can occur when a community effort comes together.

The Hunter Foundation is proud to have played a part in the creation of the Hunter Branch Rail Trail and Luke’s Bridge, and we look forward to seeing the Hunter Regional Trail system fully developed in the near future.

We would like to thank everyone who contributed to this project, from the volunteers who gave their time and energy, to the donors who supported the project financially.
