Dear Friends and Neighbors,

The Hunter Foundation is reaching out to you as another productive year comes to a close. We look back on the progress that has taken place in our mountain top community and hope you are pleased with our achievements.

We strive to employ local contractors of all trades and have developed good working relationships with them. The majority of store employees are mountaintop residents. We are fortunate to have a wonderful group of dedicated, hard working individuals on our team.

As an added note, all of the properties owned by The Hunter Foundation remain on the tax roll at their full-assessed value. Some of the properties are currently for sale. We welcome inquiries and business plans. Our goal is to build on a sense of community, creating a viable living and working environment on the mountain top.

Many new paint colors have appeared in 2013 within the “Painted Village” of Tannersville including Smiley’s, the Village Bistro, The Hunter Foundation new office building, the former Aspens building, Creekwalk and Alfie’s/ Mansion House.

Smiley’s is nearing completion and is being fixtured for an ice cream café. Rest assured that the famous “ice cream cone” will once again adorn the rooftop of Smiley’s, with a new splash of color!

Village Bistro is undergoing a well-deserved interior/exterior make-over which features a new upstairs dining room. We hope to welcome a well-known barbecue restaurant upon completion.

The Tannersville Antiques & Artisan Center that opened in July, has received positive comments from locals and visitors alike. We hope you have had a chance to peruse the fabulous items, attend a workshop or special event. Many more exciting events are planned in 2014.
The former Aspens building will house additional antique and artisan shops which will feature new vendors and local craftsmen. We feel it will be a wonderful pairing due to the success of the neighboring Tannersville Antique and Artisan Center.

Creekwalk provides a well-lit stairway from the Main Street to the lower level parking as well as convenient access to Mrs. Puddle Duck’s Child Care Center, a successful, locally owned and operated business.

The Mountain Market & Bakery at The Astor House now features a pastry chef, Stephane Leopoldo, a graduate of the Serrandi in Paris. The bakery and café offers delicious pies, brownies, truffles, cookies, incredible custom cakes and an array of French specialties. Coffee is freshly roasted on the premises. Daily soup and sandwich specials are offered. There is something to satisfy every taste.

The Tannersville General Store is now serving breakfast items including homemade granola and sausage. The clothing and accessory line have been expanded. There is a wide array of toys, games and gifts for every age.

Hotel Mountain Brook welcomes Terrence and Amy Maul and their three children as the new operators. The Inn has been given a facelift and is looking better than ever. Reservations have been on the rise. They are looking forward to a busy winter season.

The new Hunter Foundation office is now located at 5994 Main Street, Tannersville and provides easy access and a Main Street presence. We are awaiting approval on several grant applications benefiting the mountain top community. Our plans for the future include the development of a property in Haines Falls as a gateway to the mountain top.

Since the inception of The Hunter Foundation in 1997 over 12 million dollars has been injected into the local economy, blighted buildings have been restored, jobs have been provided and there is a new, exciting vitality on Main Street. Tourism and economic development are on the rise in our mountain top community.

We want to thank you for your part in making all of this a reality. The work of the Hunter Foundation would not be possible without your support.

Please visit our website www.hunterfoundation.org for current activities. Donations are accepted on the website. If you would like to be included on our email list we promise to keep you posted on upcoming events.

Once again, we thank you for your support and wish you a joyful holiday season, filled with hope and peace in 2014!

Sincerely,

The Hunter Foundation Board of Directors
