About Teresa Williams & Larry Campbell

Larry Campbell, a Manhattan native, is a 3 time Grammy Award winning Producer and winner of the Americana Association Lifetime Achievement Award. As a renowned multi-instrumentalist, Larry has spent decades as an A team studio musician- recording and touring with the seminal names of Americana, Country and in the roots music scene. Campbell serves as the Musical Director at Levon Helm’s acclaimed Midnight Rambles in Woodstock, NY.

Teresa Williams grew up living the story of Americana music, picking and hoeing cotton on her family’s 7th generation West Tennessee farm. Surrounded by the music of the Delta, Muscle Shoals, Nashville and Kentucky, she sang at church, Revivals, and “Singings with Dinner on the Ground.” Teresa’s voice drips with the sweet authentic sound of the South as she delivers a powerful performance that brings her audience a deep feeling of living it right along with her.

When Williams crossed the wide Mason Dixon to NYC, it was fate that she and Campbell would come together musically. They spent many years creating, performing and travelling apart. Notably, Teresa created the role of Sara Carter, (who was lead singer of The Original Carter Family) for Keep on the Sunny Side, while Larry was on tour in Bob Dylan’s band.

Recent years have put the two together again touring with the Levon Helm Band, Phil Lesh and Friends, Hot Tuna, and joining Little Feat on their Feat Fan Excursions. Larry and Teresa appear on many recordings including Hot Tuna’s Steady as She Goes, Jorma Kaukonen’s River of Time, and Levon Helm’s 3 Grammy Award winners: Dirt Farmer, Electric Dirt and Ramble at The Ryman. They contribute their talents on Helm’s MerleFest Ramble, on the concert film, Love for Levon and the recently released documentary Ain’t In It For My Health.

After suffering the death of their friend Helm, and in support of the spirit of his dictate to “Keep It Goin,” Larry and Teresa still perform side by side on Saturday nights at Helm’s Midnight Rambles in Woodstock, NY, with the newly named Midnight Ramble Band as well as with the acoustic Dirt Farmer Band. They are currently collaborating in the recording studio on their first duo project to be released in 2014.

And he was honored to sit alongside Levon as his double drummer.

Justin developed the signature sound of Helm’s two Grammy Award-winning records – in 2007 “Dirt Farmer” and “Electric Dirt,” released in 2009. He earned his third Grammy Award for mix engineering the live Levon Helm Band 2011 CD – “Ramble at the Ryman.”

Justin currently occupies the drummer’s chair for two ensembles that grew out of the Midnight Ramble tradition – The Dirt Farmer Band and The Midnight Ramble Band. He also plays drums for the Amy Helm Band and appears on Amy’s upcoming solo release, which he recorded and mixed.  His professional career as a drummer began in the 1990s with RCA recording artists 700Miles.
